NAGROTA, JAMMU | JANUARY 24, 2026 – Following reports of illicit operations and growing public resentment, the police and civil administration have officially sealed Hotel Gupshup located in the Ban area of Nagrota.
Acting on reliable intelligence, a joint enforcement team led by the SHO Nagrota and the Executive Magistrate conducted a surprise inspection of the premises, which is situated within a residential neighborhood.
During the verification, authorities discovered two young couples who had booked rooms at the facility. Local residents had previously raised concerns regarding the hotel’s role in facilitating such bookings, claiming the activities created a public nuisance and threatened the peace and tranquility of the community.
In a swift move to maintain public order and prevent further unauthorized activities, the Executive Magistrate ordered the immediate sealing of the establishment. The hotel’s Owner, Manager, and the individuals detained on-site are now facing preventive legal action under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
All detained persons were taken into custody for further questioning as part of the ongoing investigation into the hotel’s business practices. This crackdown serves as a firm warning to local businesses to adhere to public morality standards and legal regulations to ensure the safety and harmony of residential areas.
