MOKOKCHUNG, Jan 20, 2026 — In a significant move to enhance local security and rural surveillance, the Assam Rifles officially inaugurated a newly constructed Watch Tower at Chungtia Village in the Mokokchung district of Nagaland.
Built under the flagship Operation Sadbhavna, the project reflects the force’s ongoing commitment to fostering civil-military cooperation and infrastructure development in the state’s remote areas.
The structure was specifically designed to meet a long-standing demand from the local community for improved monitoring and early warning capabilities to safeguard the village perimeter and surrounding lands.
The inauguration ceremony was a collaborative event attended by high-ranking civil officials and community leaders, including Nokchasashi, Joint Commissioner, and Asamwati, Chairman of the Chungtia Village Council.
Spiritual and veteran voices were also represented by Reverend M. Laka Tzudir, Pastor of CBC, and Major Toshikaba (Retd), alongside local elders and Assam Rifles representatives.
During the event, community leaders lauded the Assam Rifles for their proactive role in addressing the village’s security concerns, noting that such initiatives significantly build trust and ensure a safer environment for the residents of underdeveloped regions.
