Mughal Road and Sinthan Top Remain Closed; Limited One-Way Traffic Allowed on SSG Road for Sunday

SRINAGAR, Jan 10 (2026): High-altitude road connectivity in the Union Territory remains severely impacted by winter weather, with the Mughal Road and the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Highway (NH-244) officially closed for all vehicular movement due to heavy snow accumulation.

However, for the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari (SSG) Road, authorities have announced a window for one-way traffic on January 11, subject to a “green signal” from the BRO. Traffic will be allowed only from Kargil toward Srinagar, with LMVs and HMVs (up to 6 tyres) permitted to move from Minamarg between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Motorists are strictly advised to carry anti-skid chains to navigate slippery patches. Travelers are urged to verify road status with the Traffic Control Units in Srinagar (0194-2450022) or Kargil (9541902330) before starting their journey.
