Security Forces Engage Terrorists in Kathua: Encounter Underway at Kamadh Nullah

KATHUA | January 07, 2026:-A fierce gunbattle broke out between terrorists and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday in the densely forested Kamadh Nullah area of Kathua district.

Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of a group of terrorists hiding in the rugged terrain, security forces launched a coordinated Cordon and Search Operation (CASO).

The situation escalated into an encounter when the holed-up terrorists opened fire on the advancing search parties, prompting the security personnel to retaliate effectively.

The encounter was officially confirmed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti, who took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to state that the SOG Kathua has engaged the terrorists within the forest of Kamadh Nullah.

Additional reinforcements have been rushed to the spot to tighten the cordon and prevent any escape routes. As the operation continues in the challenging forest landscape, the area remains under high alert.

Further details regarding casualties or the number of terrorists involved are currently awaited as the exchange of fire persists.
