JAMMU, JANUARY 02, 2026 — Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, held a series of high-level meetings today with various legislators and public delegations to address critical sectoral issues across Jammu and Kashmir.
The discussions centered on the Public Health Engineering (PHE), Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC), and Tribal Affairs departments, with a specific focus on drinking water augmentation and flood management strategies. Notable legislators, including M.Y. Tarigami, Hasnain Masoodi, and Nizam ud Din Bhat, highlighted constituency-specific concerns, urging for immediate administrative interventions to improve basic service delivery and the welfare of tribal communities.
During the deliberations, the Minister placed significant emphasis on the administrative challenges within the Jammu & Kashmir Forest Development Corporation Limited (JK FDCL). In the presence of the Managing Director of JK FDCL, the meeting comprehensively reviewed long-pending pensionary matters and compassionate appointment cases to ensure fair and timely redressal for employees.
Javed Ahmed Rana reiterated the Omar Abdullah government’s firm commitment to safeguarding employee rights and resolving service-related grievances that have faced delays, underscoring that public welfare remains the cornerstone of the current dispensation’s agenda.
Assuring the delegations of a result-oriented approach, the Minister directed department heads to initiate prompt follow-up actions and enhance inter-departmental coordination. He noted that the government is prioritizing the strengthening of essential services and the resolution of regional concerns in a time-bound manner.
By addressing the specific needs of both the general public and government personnel, the ministry aims to ensure that the benefits of developmental and welfare initiatives reach every corner of the Union Territory effectively.
