Samba’s Varun Sharma Honored with DGP Medal for Anti-Terror Valour

SAMBA 02 January — In a proud moment for the Samba district, Sub Inspector(P) Varun Sharma, a native of Jatwal village, has been conferred with the prestigious Director General of Police (DGP) Medal.

The award recognizes his exceptional bravery, fearless leadership, and dedicated service during high-stakes anti-terror operations and operational duties in the region.

Currently serving as the Chowki Officer at Dudu in the Basantgarh area, PSI Varun Sharma has been at the forefront of maintaining security in challenging terrains. His commitment to duty in the sensitive Dudu-Basantgarh belt has earned him accolades from both the department and the local community.

The news of the decoration has sparked celebrations in his native village of Jatwal, where residents have hailed him as a “son of the soil” who has brought immense glory to the district.
