Srinagar police debunk fake social media claims of attack on Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims
SRINAGAR, JULY 4, 2026 :- The Srinagar Police issued a public advisory clarifying that false and misleading information is being circulated on social media platforms claiming that buses carrying Amarnath Yatra pilgrims were attacked and caught fire near Lal Chowk.
Authorities confirmed that this claim is entirely fake and no such incident has occurred anywhere in the area. Law enforcement officials noted that a viral video being circulated online is completely unrelated and has been maliciously linked to the ongoing annual pilgrimage to create panic.
The general public is strongly advised not to create, circulate, or share unverified or misleading content that could disturb public order or spread misinformation.
The Srinagar Police warned that strict legal action will be initiated against any individuals found creating, sharing, or reposting false information in violation of applicable laws.
Citizens are requested to rely exclusively on information issued through official government and law enforcement channels, and to verify facts before forwarding or sharing any content on social media.
