Shri Machail Mata Yatra 2026: DC Kishtwar Reviews Facilities to Ensure Smooth Pilgrim Movement
KISHTWAR, AUGUST 03 — The annual Shri Machail Mata Ji Yatra 2026, which resumed on July 28, continues to experience a steady increase in footfall as thousands of devotees gather from across the country. To ensure the smooth and safe movement of pilgrims, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma, visited the Machail Mata temple shrine today to review the ground situation and inspect the infrastructure and essential services put in place by the district administration. During his visit, DC Sharma paid obeisance at the revered shrine, offering prayers for peace, prosperity, and the overall well-being of the region’s residents.
During the comprehensive review, the Deputy Commissioner evaluated key arrangements, including transportation, dedicated parking zones, uninterrupted water and power supply, sanitation drive efficacy, secure accommodation, and medical services. Issuing on-the-spot directions to concerned officials, he emphasized strengthening security protocols and eliminating potential bottlenecks along the pilgrimage route. He also inspected ongoing developmental projects at the Shri Machail Mata Bhawan, directing execution teams to expedite construction work within strict timelines so that devotees face zero inconvenience.
A major focus of this year’s pilgrimage is sustainability, with the district administration driving a 100% plastic-free yatra. DC Sharma directed enforcement teams to strictly maintain hygiene and sanitation throughout the period while appealing to pilgrims to eliminate single-use plastics along the holy trail. Addressing community feedback, he instructed the BDO Paddar to immediately undertake the repair, renovation, and restoration of the Durga Raru Khul channel towards Machail. Furthermore, DC Sharma reviewed operational readiness with the NDRF team stationed at the site, urging them to stay on high alert to handle any unforeseen emergency smoothly.
The inspection was attended by senior district officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal, SDM Dr. Amit Kumar, Yatra Camp Director Subhash Thakur, BDO Rajesh Sharma, Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Paddar Er. Gurjeet Singh, alongside key staff members.
