MP Ghulam Ali Khatana and JMC Commissioner Inspect Ward 74 to Review Development in Jammu

JAMMU, July 11 — Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Ghulam Ali Khatana, alongside Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Devansh Yadav, conducted a comprehensive inspection of Ward No. 74 (Bathindi–Sunjwan) and its neighboring areas to evaluate ongoing development projects and civic infrastructure. During the visit, the officials engaged with local residents to address their concerns regarding damaged roads, poor drainage, sanitation, public space beautification, and drinking water supply. Immediate on-the-spot assessments were carried out, and directives were issued to the concerned officers to expedite necessary repairs and upgrades.

Special focus was placed on fortifying the local drainage network to handle stormwater efficiently and prevent waterlogging during the monsoon season. Officials reviewed ongoing drain-cleaning operations and identified critical spots needing new infrastructure, instructing staff to implement comprehensive solutions. Khatana reiterated his commitment to the holistic development of the Bathindi–Sunjwan area, promising that all JMC-managed projects would be accelerated through close departmental coordination to deliver robust public infrastructure.

In his address, JMC Commissioner Devansh Yadav reaffirmed the corporation’s dedication to providing transparent, citizen-centric services and timely grievance redressal. He ordered monitoring teams to enforce quality standards and meet strict project deadlines. Additionally, Yadav urged residents to voluntarily remove encroachments over drains and streams to prevent urban flooding, use drinking water judiciously, and maintain public cleanliness. The inspection was attended by senior officials including JMC Health Officer Shahid Hussain, Executive Engineers Yasir Bashir Kitchloo and Ashwini Sharma, Chief Transport Officer Balkar Angurana, and a large gathering of local citizens and public representatives.
