J&K Police Book Two Repeat Drug Peddlers Under PIT NDPS Act in Anantnag
ANANTNAG, July 11 (2026) — In an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking and habitual narcotics offenders, the Anantnag Police have booked two repeat drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act.
The detained individuals have been identified as Junaid Ahmad Mantoo, son of Aijaz Ahmad Mantoo, a resident of Waghama, and Mohammad Ashraf Dar, son of Jalal Uddin Dar, a resident of Tulkhan, Bijbehara. Both men are repeat offenders with histories of multiple NDPS cases who continued to engage in illicit drug trafficking despite previous legal interventions. Due to their persistent involvement in narcotics-related activities and the ongoing threat their actions posed to public safety and community well-being, official detention orders were issued under the PIT NDPS Act.
Following the execution of these orders, both detainees were transferred and lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu. The local police department remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the district, affirming that stringent legal actions will continue against peddlers and anyone involved in the illegal narcotics trade. Authorities continue to urge the public to support law enforcement by sharing credible information related to trafficking to help achieve a drug-free society.
