Jammu and Kashmir weather update warns of heavy rain and flash floods risk

SRINAGAR, July 11, 2026 — A weather nowcast issued at 4:15 PM predicts a spell of rain and thundershowers across many places in the Kashmir Division, as well as several areas in Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda, Reasi, Udhampur, and adjoining sectors.

The meteorological alert warns of brief, intense showers and thunderstorms at a few locations over the next three to five hours.An administrative advisory has been issued alongside the forecast, highlighting the possibility of intense thunderstorms in parts of Kupwara, Baramulla, Badgam, Central and South Kashmir, Ramban, Reasi, Doda, Batote, and Udhampur.

The heavy downpour over the next three hours could potentially trigger localized flash floods, mudslides, and landslides. Authorities have strongly advised residents and travelers in these regions to stay away from streams, seasonal nullahs, and areas prone to landslides until weather conditions stabilize.
