Motor Vehicles Department intensifies traffic enforcement on Rajouri-Poonch National Highway
RAJOURI, June 28, 2026 :- The Motor Vehicles Department of Rajouri has intensified its ongoing enforcement drive along the Rajouri-Poonch National Highway to ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety across the district.
During a targeted inspection conducted by Assistant Regional Transport Officer Ashiq Rafiq Malik, authorities intercepted several vehicles, resulting in the seizure of one vehicle and the issuance of challans to 14 drivers for various traffic violations. The department imposed total fines amounting to ₹24,900, while also recommending the suspension of one driving license due to the severity of the infractions.
In addition to the immediate enforcement actions taken during the highway drive, the department reported that it has canceled six driving licenses and suspended one during the current month, acting on recommendations from police authorities regarding offenders involved in cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The Motor Vehicles Department stated that these strict enforcement measures are set to continue in the coming weeks and issued a strong appeal to all drivers and vehicle owners to adhere to traffic rules, emphasizing that compliance is essential for maintaining safer road conditions for the public.
