Udhampur police arrest drug peddler with heroin near Phalata

UDHAMPUR, June 28, 2026 :- The Udhampur police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 3.83 grams of heroin from his possession during a routine check at the Phalata checkpoint. The operation was part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, which aims to eradicate drug trafficking and protect the youth from substance abuse across the region.

A police team from the Rehambal police station intercepted a vehicle traveling from Jammu toward Srinagar. During the inspection of the car, officers discovered the contraband with a co-passenger identified as Nissar Sheikh, a resident of Raj Bagh, Srinagar.

The suspect was taken into custody after failing to provide a satisfactory explanation for possessing the substance. The police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Rehambal police station, and a detailed investigation is underway to trace the origin and destination of the seized drugs.
