You Can Run But You Can’t Hide: Top Lashkar Terrorist Killed in Shopian Gunfight
SHOPIAN, July 08 — Security forces achieved a major breakthrough in South Kashmir following a joint operation by the Police, Army, and CRPF that led to the elimination of a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander in the Shopian district. The neutralised terrorist has been identified as Zakir Ganie.
The encounter began on Saturday when a joint team consisting of the Special Operations Group of Shopian, 55 Rashtriya Rifles, and the Central Reserve Police Force launched a coordinated search operation in the Chanapora area.
Following an intense gunfight, security personnel recovered the body of the Terrorist from a cowshed on Wednesday morning. A cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the site.
Senior police officials termed the elimination of the top commander a significant success for security forces operating in the region. Security agencies later shared the development on social media, emphasizing their commitment to tracking down remaining active operatives. The area remains under cordon as further operational details are awaited.
