Jammu Police Arrest Drug Peddler and Former Pakistan Jail Prisoner with Heroin in RS Pura

JAMMU, July 10, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against narcotics smuggling, the Jammu Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of contraband in the R.S. Pura area. The arrested individual, identified as Yashpaul, a resident of Kotli Mian Fateh in Tehsil R.S. Pura, is a former prisoner who previously served a seven-year sentence in a Pakistani jail. This latest arrest is part of an ongoing, intensified crackdown by local law enforcement to dismantle regional drug trafficking networks and curb the spread of illicit substances.

An operational team from the R.S. Pura Police Station intercepted the suspect at a checkpoint on the Baspur Abdullian Link Road. During a thorough search, police personnel recovered 32.34 grams of a heroin-like substance, locally referred to as “chitta,” from his possession. In addition to the seized narcotics, law enforcement officers confiscated a mobile phone and ₹14,000 in cash from the accused, both of which are believed to be linked to illegal drug transactions.

Following the recovery, authorities registered FIR No. 136/2026 at the R.S. Pura Police Station under Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The contraband and electronic evidence have been legally seized, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to trace the supply chain. Reaffirming their commitment to eradicating the drug menace, the Jammu Police have urged the public to support their campaign by reporting any suspicious drug-related activities to the nearest police station.
