Indian Army Rescues Kumaon Regiment Veteran and Son After Charma-Dharchula Road Accident

CHARMA / DIDIHAT — AUGUST 6, 2026: In a swift and life-saving operation, troops from the Charma Military Garrison rushed to the scene of a devastating road accident along the critical Charma–Dharchula road. When a sudden crash threatened lives on the treacherous mountainous terrain, the military personnel demonstrated rapid readiness, executing a high-priority rescue mission before critical seconds slipped away.

The troops successfully extracted Govind Ram, 45, and his 75-year-old father, Fakkeram—a distinguished veteran of the Kumaon Regiment—from the wreckage. Demonstrating exceptional coordination and care, the military team immediately organized a secure evacuation, transporting both injured men to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Didihat for urgent medical evaluation and treatment. Hospital authorities have confirmed that both individuals are currently in stable condition, highlighting the Indian Army’s enduring pledge that every civilian life matters and every mission is fulfilled.
