Indian Army Reopens Goodwill School in Remote Border Village of Gunji
GUNJI (JULY 15, 2026) — Learning has successfully found its way back to young minds in the remote high-altitude frontier village of Gunji, nestled along India’s border. Revived after decades and renamed as the Army Goodwill School, the 35-year-old primary school has been rejuvenated through the dedicated efforts of Surya Command, rekindling hope and expanding educational opportunities for children in this remote Himalayan region.
Further strengthening this initiative, Surya AWWA, under the guidance of Ruchira Sengupta, Regional President of Surya Command, has launched a donation drive to provide textbooks, stationery, and other classroom essentials. The first consignment has already reached the children, bringing smiles, encouragement, and renewed enthusiasm for learning. More than just a school, this initiative represents a vital investment in the future of India’s frontier communities by empowering young minds, fostering opportunity, and reinforcing the enduring commitment of the Indian Army toward education, social development, and nation-building.
