Inaugural Jammu & Kashmir International Film Festival Draws Massive Global Response Ahead of Submission Deadline

SRINAGAR JULY 29,2026 :- The 1st International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir 2026 has captured widespread global attention, receiving 875 film submissions from nearly 50 countries for its inaugural edition. Organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation, the festival is set to take place from September 7 to 10, 2026. With the submission window closing on July 30, 2026, filmmakers from across the world are submitting their final entries for the flagship cinematic initiative, which was officially launched during a curtain-raiser ceremony on July 17, 2026, by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

The four-day event aims to establish Jammu and Kashmir as a premier destination for film production, creative exchange, and cultural tourism while showcasing the region’s scenic beauty and rich heritage on an international stage. Featuring a diverse lineup of film screenings, masterclasses, interactive sessions, and panel discussions, the festival provides a platform to foster international cooperation, celebrate artistic innovation, and deepen the understanding of global storytelling traditions through the medium of cinema.
