Heavy Rain and Flash Flood Alert Issued for Jammu Division
SRINAGAR, July 29 — Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with severe spells likely in parts of the Jammu division.
Recent weather data shows significant rainfall across the region, with Samba recording 87 mm, Katra 71.2 mm, Udhampur 65 mm, and Jammu 52 mm over the past 24 hours.Widespread light to moderate showers and thundershowers are forecast through July 31. Brief intense downpours and torrential rain are expected in isolated areas of the Jammu division, particularly during early morning, late afternoon, and evening hours.
Parts of the Kashmir division may also experience brief heavy showers.Rain and thundershowers are expected to persist from August 1 to 7, with another round of heavy to torrential rainfall anticipated in select districts of the Jammu division between August 3 and 5.The weather department warned that intense precipitation could trigger flash floods, landslides, and mudslides in vulnerable areas through August 2.
