Srinagar 18 December :-The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has officially announced its Winter Vacation schedule for 2026, as outlined in a recent notification issued by the Registrar General.
According to the order, the High Court will be on break from January 1 to January 24, 2026. Notably, the first ten days of the month—from January 1 to January 10—have been designated as a “No Work Period” for the court. This scheduled break is a standard administrative procedure to manage judicial proceedings during the peak winter months in the region.
To ensure that essential legal services remain accessible, the Chief Justice has nominated several Vacation Judges to handle urgent matters throughout the second half of the vacation.
In the Jammu Wing, Justice Sanjay Parihar will preside from January 12 to January 17, followed by Justice Rajesh Sekhri from January 19 to January 24. For the Srinagar Wing, Justice Shahzad Azeem will hear urgent cases during the first week (January 12–17), with Justice Mohd Yousuf Wani taking over for the final week (January 19–24). This arrangement, made under Rule 12 of the J&K High Court Rules, 1999, ensures that the judicial system continues to address emergency litigations while the court observes its seasonal recess.
