GCW Udhampur hosts Series of activities under Sewa Parv

UDHAMPUR OCTOBER 01, 2025: The Literary Club, Government College for Women(GCW) Udhampur, organized a series of activities as a part of sewa Parv being observed from September 17- October 2, 2025, anationwide initiative to promote values of service, health, hygieneand civic responsibility and to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in the college campus.

Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania, Principal of the College motivated thestudents to be selfless, focus on the importance of health and hygieneand work towards the betterment of society.

The Literary Club in collaboration with the NSS unit of thecollege, organized an Essay Writing Competition on the theme“Nationalism and Gandhian Philosophy.” Shruti Sharma (Semester-V, Mehak Devi (Semester-III) and Sonia Sharma (Semester-III)bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The panel of judgesfor this event comprised of Prof. Sunil Magotra, Prof. Simran Khajuriaand Prof. Safina Choudhary.

This event was followed by a Slogan Writing Competition on the theme “Swachhta and Nasha-Mukt Bharat.” where thefirst position was secured by Shruti Sharma (Semester-V), the second and third positions were secured by Arushi Sharma(Semester-V) and Mehak Devi (Semester-V).

The panel of judges forthis event included Dr. Ajay Sharma, Prof. Ravinder Kumar and Prof.Pradeep Singh.Dr. Varun Sharma, Head, Dept. of Philosophy, presented the bookreview of Gandhiji’s autobiography “My Experiments with Truth” to thestudents in the College Library.

The review was followed by a groupdiscussion and a question-answer session. This was followed by thescreening of the movie “Gandhi” in the Conference Hall of the college.The series of events concluded with an address by Dr. Geetanjli Rajput, the Convener of the Literary Club of the college whoemphasized on the importance of organizing such events for thestudents thereby inculcating in them the values of selfless service,well-being of the society, health and hygiene and making India a Nasha-mukt Bharat which is the purpose of Sewa Parv celebrations.Prof. Yash Paul, Dr. Sushma Chowdhary, Dr. Parwinder Kour and Dr. Om Prakash, the members of the Literary Club coordinated these events.The students enthusiastically participated in all the events.
