rinagar 27 September :- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha gave a strong warning on Saturday, saying that the stories posted by outfits like the Terrorist Resistance Front (TRF) on social media, if left unchecked, would be a “serious danger.” Delivering an address at a function held in Srinagar’s Tagore Hall, LG Sinha called upon the Jammu and Kashmir people to get together against terrorism and fight back actively against extremist propaganda to protect peace and stability.
He stated that if such propaganda is spread and “we keep quiet, then it is risky. We need to be attentive to this.”Asserting that the war against terror is not just the job of security personnel, Sinha called it a responsibility of all citizens. He disclosed that terrorism has killed more than 40,000 people and needs to be uprooted entirely with the help of the people. “I think people need to come out,” he said. In spite of decades of agony, the Lieutenant Governor noted that Jammu and Kashmir is going through a significant transition, where stone-pelting is a “thing of the past” and recruitment of local terrorists is in decline.
He also said, “Whenever there is a schism in a family, we should attempt to get our home in order.”Sinha attributed the developments after the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019 as a milestone in history. He also referred to measures such as conferring Scheduled Tribe (ST) status on the Pahari community, consolidating the Forest Rights Act, and launching Tribal Pride Day as proof of the government’s concern for social and economic justice.
“Nobody can prevent the Pahari community now. Whatever rights they are entitled to will be conferred,” he claimed. Laying out an optimistic picture on the security front, Sinha reported a sharp reduction in terrorism, especially in the Northeast, and left-wing extremism, and was of the opinion that Naxalism would be wiped out soon. He ended by asking the citizens to behave responsibly and avoid any illegal activities.
