Udhampur 20 September :- A Indian Army soldier, Lance Dafadar Baldev Chand, has made the supreme sacrifice after succumbing to critical injuries sustained during a fierce gunfight with terrorists in the rugged terrain of Udhampur district.
The Gunfight erupted late Friday evening when a joint team of the Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the J&K Police, engaged in a massive search operation, came under fire from terrorists in the Seoj Dhar forest area of the Dudu-Basantgarh region. Despite being swiftly evacuated to a medical facility, Lance Dafadar Chand could not survive his injuries.
Following the incident, the area was placed under a tight security cordon overnight, and a reinforced hunt involving troops equipped with drones and sniffer dogs from both Udhampur and Doda sides resumed on Saturday morning to track down the estimated two to three terrorists believed to be hiding in the dense forest.
