Principal Secretary R&B Inspects Thard Landslide Site on NH-44, Directs Expedited fully Restoration Efforts
UDHAMPUR, 16 September :– In a high-level visit to assess the significant damage caused by a major landslide, Anil Kumar Singh (IAS), the Principal Secretary of the Public Works (R&B) Department for Jammu and Kashmir, conducted an extensive on-site inspection of the affected stretch at Thard on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) on Tuesday.
The visit aimed to oversee the ongoing restoration work and to evaluate the current situation firsthand to ensure a swift and effective response.
Suleman Choudhary, Inspector General of Police (Traffic), and Saloni Rai, the Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur, the Principal Secretary undertook a detailed foot-march along the devastated section of the highway.
Walking the entire landslide-hit stretch allowed the senior officials to gain a comprehensive and granular understanding of the challenges posed by the landslip, the volume of debris , and the stability of the surrounding slopes.
