Dehradun 16 September :- A devastating cloudburst struck the Sahastradhara area of Dehradun in the early hours of Tuesday, unleashing torrential rains that triggered a severe flash flood in the Tamsa River and caused widespread destruction across several regions. The sudden and intense deluge led the river to swell dangerously, breaching its banks and rampaging through nearby settlements with immense force. The fury of the floodwaters resulted in significant infrastructure damage, with numerous houses, shops, and vehicles being completely swept away or severely damaged, while key roads were left destroyed and impassable, isolating communities and hampering initial rescue efforts.
In response to the crisis, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed the immediate mobilization of relief teams, stating that the District Administration, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and police are actively engaged in ongoing rescue operations at the site. The CM, who is personally monitoring the situation, also took to social media to announce that he is in constant touch with the local authorities to coordinate a comprehensive response to the calamity.
