NEW DELHI, August 06, 2026 — In a major crackdown on illegal drug trafficking through aviation routes, personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) intercepted an outbound international passenger at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport after uncovering a massive stash of unauthorized pharmaceuticals valued at approximately ₹35.97 lakh. The suspect, who was scheduled to board a flight bound for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, was flagged down by alert security staff during routine pre-boarding surveillance inside the terminal. Security forces relied on advanced behavioral profiling techniques to isolate the individual after noticing suspicious demeanor and movements, prompting immediate physical inspection and baggage verification.
A comprehensive examination conducted in the presence of Customs Department authorities led to the detection of 19 different varieties of high-value medicines and pharmaceutical products tightly packed within the passenger’s luggage. Upon further interrogation by multi-agency security personnel, the individual failed to produce any valid prescription, commercial shipping invoice, or legal authorization required for carrying such an extensive quantity of controlled medical supplies out of the country.
