Patnitop Launches Major Eco-Campaign Under Clean Himalayan Initiative to Drive Sustainable Tourism

UDHAMPUR, August 3 — Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa, a comprehensive behavioral change campaign under the Clean Himalayan and Hill Cities Initiative (CHHCI) was officially launched today at the popular hill resort of Patnitop.

The event was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh alongside IAS Probationer Dr. Shagun Singh, SDM Chenani Dr. Ranjeet Singh Kotwal, Tehsildar Chenani Pankaj Singh, and Patnitop Development Authority Accounts Officer Ashok Gupta. The grand opening was immediately followed by a broad stakeholder conference bringing together local hoteliers, shopkeepers, pony owners, and taxi operators.

During the session, officials outlined the campaign’s core strategy to protect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem by enforcing strict waste segregation, eliminating single-use plastics, and encouraging sustainable solid waste management. To set an immediate standard, participants joined a mega cleanliness drive across the Patnitop Meadow. Administration officials announced a structured daily schedule of awareness drives, monitoring, and trail sanitation training that will run continuously through August 15, urging all local commercial unions and tourists to cooperate in establishing Patnitop as a national benchmark for eco-friendly tourism.
