SSP Samba Reviews Security Measures for Amarnath Yatra and Independence Day 2026

SAMBA, July 28 — Senior Superintendent of Police Samba chaired a security review meeting at the Conference Hall DPO Samba to evaluate and strengthen security measures for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.

The meeting was attended by senior police officers, including the Additional SP, Sub-Divisional Police Officers, and Station House Officers from across the district, who gathered to refine deployment strategies and raise operational readiness.Focusing on the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage, the police chief assessed security arrangements at lodgement centers, langar sites, quick response team posts, and checkpoint locations.

Officers were directed to conduct regular briefings to keep deployed personnel informed about standard procedures and threat perceptions. Instructions were also issued to step up vehicle inspections at checkpoints, maintain daily roll calls, optimize CCTV surveillance, and regularly review contingency plans to ensure rapid response to any emergent situations.In addition to event security, the police chief called for aggressive action to dismantle local drug networks, with specific focus on infamous narcotics hotspots such as Rakh Barotian and Vijaypur.

Officers were instructed to investigate both forward and backward linkages to target suppliers, distributors, and financiers. Concluding the session, the chief urged all officers to maintain high alertness, reinforce vigilance, and coordinate closely with other security agencies ahead of Independence Day.
