Jammu and Kashmir Weather Update Light to Moderate Rain Forecast Across Regions

SRINAGAR, July 15, 2026 — The Meteorological Department has predicted hot and humid weather across Jammu and Kashmir over the next couple of days, with a significant shift towards widespread rainfall and thundershowers starting late this week.

Residents can expect brief spells of rain or thundershowers in a few places from July 15 to July 17. The weather activity is expected to pick up between July 18 and July 19, bringing partly cloudy skies along with light to moderate rain at many locations.

The Jammu Division, in particular, may witness brief but intense heavy downpours during the late-night hours of July 18 and the morning of July 19.A major wet spell is forecast between July 20 and July 23, during which skies will remain generally cloudy with multiple spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers across most parts of the region.

The peak weather activity is anticipated on July 21 and July 22, with heavy rainfall and brief intense showers expected in several districts of both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions. The weather is projected to gradually improve by July 24 and July 25, though brief rain or thundershowers may still occur in a few isolated areas.

The weather department has issued an advisory warning of potential heavy rainfall and intense showers during the late-night hours of July 18 into the morning of July 19, as well as during the peak period of July 20 to July 22, especially during late afternoon, night, and early morning hours.

Due to the predicted heavy downpours, there is a risk of flash floods, landslides, and mudslides in vulnerable locations across the Chenab Valley, Pir Panjal Range, and hilly zones of the Kashmir division from July 20 to July 22. Residents are also advised to prepare for localized waterlogging in low-lying areas.
