J&K DGP Chairs High-Level Security Review for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra at PCR Kashmir

SRINAGAR, July 10, 2026 — Director General of Police J&K, Nalin Prabhat, IPS, chaired a comprehensive security review meeting today at the Police Control Room Kashmir to evaluate the security grid for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. The high-level session brought together top brass from the Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), intelligence agencies, and the Jammu & Kashmir Police to ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of the annual pilgrimage.

The meeting saw extensive attendance from key military and security leaders, including the GOC 15 Corps, BB Cantt Srinagar; Spl. DG Coordination J&K; Spl. DG CRPF J&K; ADGP CID J&K; AX SIB J&K/L; and the IGsP of Kashmir Zone, Security J&K, Railways J&K, Traffic J&K, and CID J&K. Also present were the IGs of BSF Ftr Hqrs Kashmir, CRPF KOS, NHW ITBP, and CRPF Srinagar; Commissioner SB; Addl. Commissioner SB Srinagar; GOCs of CIF (K) Shariefabad, CIF (V) Awantipora, 19 Inf Div Baramulla, and 28 Inf Div Kupwara; along with all Range DIGs of Kashmir Zone, various sector DIGs from the SSB, CRPF, and ITBP, and all district SSPs of the Kashmir Zone. During the briefing, these senior officers presented detailed assessments of existing field-level preparedness and security measures across the Kashmir Valley.

Reiterating the critical need for synergy among all security forces, Nalin Prabhat called upon the participating agencies to work in close coordination through seamless intelligence sharing and joint operational planning. The DGP emphasized that timely dissemination of actionable intelligence is vital to maintaining a robust security grid. To counter potential threats, Shri Nalin Prabhat instructed all agencies to intensify anti-terror operations across the Valley, maintain relentless pressure on terrorist networks, and take swift legal action against anti-national elements and terrorist associates.

Furthermore, Nalin Prabhat emphasized the importance of area domination, enhanced night patrolling, and increased surveillance in vulnerable areas to deter any attempts to disturb public order. Officers were directed to establish effective naka checkpoints at sensitive locations to strengthen access control. Special emphasis was laid on securing vulnerable stretches of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra route, key transit points, the National Highway, and railway infrastructure. Concluding the meet, Nalin Prabhat instructed field officers to conduct regular operational briefings for deployed personnel and to boost public awareness initiatives at base camps to educate pilgrims on safety guidelines.
