Security forces eliminate Lashkar terrorist in Shopian encounter
SHOPIAN July 08 — A Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist was killed during a joint security operation in the Chanapora area of Shopian district following a fierce gunfight with security forces.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, a coordinated search operation was launched in the area by the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps, the local police, and the Central Reserve Police Force.
As the security teams cordoned off the suspected location, hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering an intense exchange of gunfighters.
The eliminated terrorist has been identified as Zakir Ganai, a member of the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Following the firefight, security forces recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and other war-like stores from the encounter site.
The Chinar Corps confirmed that the operation is still in progress as forces continue to scan the area to ensure no other threats remain.
