Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Felicitates Kashmir Women Organization Fellowship Recipients
SRINAGAR, July 06, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha felicitated 32 recipients of the Kashmir Women’s Organization Fellowship during a ceremony at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar.
In his address, Sinha hailed the fellows as symbols of Jammu and Kashmir’s ongoing transformation toward a future built on self-confidence, equal opportunities, and dignity for all. He lauded the efforts of Dr. Fida Firdous and all the members of the Kashmir Women’s Organization for creating a robust platform that allows local women to confidently embrace their talents, ideas, and identities while playing a meaningful role in building a bright future for the region.
The Lieutenant Governor noted that the organization has quickly earned the distinction of becoming a powerful hub of hope, trust, and positive change. He emphasized that the fellowship program is a tangible realization of collaborative and shared responsibility, stating that the fellows have redefined what is possible by challenging deeply entrenched stereotypes. Sinha added that their contributions would pave a new path for future generations, serving as a foundation of inspiration, confidence, and guidance for years to come.
Paying homage to historical icons such as Rani Didda, Kota Rani, Lal Ded, Habba Khatoon, and Mata Rupa Bhawani, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted that the women of Jammu and Kashmir have always scaled the highest peaks of female empowerment.
He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for granting women their due rights and eliminating discrimination. Sinha outlined a progressive vision for the Union Territory, envisioning a region where women lead in academia, industry, social organizations, and governance, while driving entrepreneurship and enriching local culture through art and literature.Sinha expressed confidence that the fellowship program will continue to propagate the core principle that women deserve equal and dignified participation across all social, cultural, economic, and political spheres.
He emphasized the need to address the rising challenge of substance abuse among women, advising the fellows to conduct a comprehensive, region-specific analysis to identify its underlying root causes to strengthen rehabilitation frameworks.
During the ceremony, the Lieutenant Governor also released a book titled Panchayati Raj Institutions and Municipal Council in India, authored by Dr. Nazrul Islam. The event was attended by Dr. Fida Firdous, President of the Kashmir Writers Association, Dr. Darakshan Hassan Bhat, President of the Kashmir Women’s Organization, along with members of both organizations and senior officials.
