Jammu and Kashmir weather forecast predicts heavy rain and flash flood warning until July 8
SRINAGAR, July 6, 2026:- The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather forecast indicating generally cloudy conditions across Jammu and Kashmir from July 6 to July 8, with light to moderate rain and thundershowers expected at many places.
Few areas in the Jammu division are likely to experience heavy rain and brief, intense showers accompanied by thunder, particularly during the late afternoon, evening, late night, and early morning hours.
Similarly, many districts in the Kashmir division are anticipated to receive light to moderate rain, with brief intense spells mostly occurring towards the afternoon and early morning periods.
Following this period, the weather from July 9 to July 12 is expected to turn generally hot and humid across the region. However, the weather department noted that one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers, along with brief intense heavy showers and thunder at a few places, will still remain possible during these days.In light of the weather conditions, a weather advisory has been issued warning that heavy rainfall and intense showers between July 6 and July 8 could trigger localized flash floods, landslides, and mudslides.
Vulnerable areas within the Chenab Valley and the Pir Panjal Range are particularly at risk, generally during the afternoon and early morning hours. Authorities have strongly advised locals and travelers to stay away from streams, nallahs, and all landslide or mudslide-prone areas to ensure their safety.
