Shopian encounter underway as security forces trap two terrorists in Chanapora

SHOPIAN, JULY 4, 2026 :- An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Chanapora area of Shopian district in South Kashmir.

According to unconfirmed reports, at least two terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area. The initial contact was established by the Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, after which joint security forces moved in to reinforce the cordon and engage the trapped Terrorists.

An anti-terrorist operation had been underway in the locality since yesterday, and the intense firefight is currently ongoing.
