CBI arrests two kingpins in railway recruitment paper leak case

BENGALURU, JULY 4, 2026:- The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested two private individuals in Bengaluru in connection with the alleged question paper leak of the General Departmental Competitive Examination 2022.

According to the official press release the examination was conducted for recruitment to the post of Goods Train Manager in the South Western Railway. The agency had registered a case against 23 accused individuals following a complaint by the South Western Railways involving criminal conspiracy, cheating, and the receipt of illegal gratification by public servants.

Searches conducted at the premises of the two arrested individuals led to the recovery of incriminating documents, examination records, candidate details, and electronic devices like scanners and printers used for the fraud. As per details , investigators uncovered evidence linking the accused to a conspiracy to leak and distribute the question paper to selected candidates before the test, identifying the duo as the kingpins of the operation.

Both individuals were produced before a competent court in Bengaluru today, which granted four days of custody to the agency for further interrogation to identify other persons involved in the conspiracy.
