Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026: DGP Nalin Prabhat Chairs J&K Security Review Meeting

SRINAGAR, JULY 04, 2026: Director General of Police J&K Nalin Prabhat chaired a comprehensive Union Territory-wide security review meeting at the Police Control Room Kashmir to evaluate the logistical and security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. The high-level meeting saw participation from top officials representing the J&K Police, Indian Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Traffic Police, Railway Police, intelligence wings, and various joint security agencies. The attending officers provided detailed briefings on current security deployments, traffic management strategies, and the rigorous implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aimed at guaranteeing a safe, secure, and seamless pilgrimage environment.

Emphasizing the need for peak operational readiness, Nalin Prabhat directed all security agencies to maintain flawless inter-agency coordination and intensify both area domination and night patrolling exercises. Special focus was placed on securing the National Highway, vital road corridors, and primary pilgrimage routes. Field formations were explicitly instructed to scale up surveillance and closely monitor suspicious elements across Jammu and Kashmir to thwart any attempts at disrupting peace. Additionally, the DGP mandated strict verification of pilgrim credentials and the optimal utilization of RFID-based tracking systems for real-time monitoring. He highlighted that issues regarding unregistered pilgrims must be managed proactively and humanely alongside the Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, ensuring only authorized individuals proceed according to established protocols.

Addressing disaster preparedness, the DGP instructed all departments to keep robust contingency plans and emergency resources on standby to counter weather-related disruptions with rapid evacuation, medical aid, and shelter. Officers were urged to maintain a professional, accessible, and community-friendly demeanor to assist both tourists and pilgrims effectively. Reaffirming the commitment of the J&K Police and partner security forces, Nalin Prabhat expressed full confidence that sustained vigilance and strong inter-agency synergy would ensure the peaceful and successful continuation of the Amarnath Yatra 2026.
