Divisional Commissioner Kashmir reviews Amarnath Yatra arrangements at Srinagar Airport

SRINAGAR, June 30, 2026 :- Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg conducted a comprehensive review of the facilities established for pilgrims at Srinagar International Airport to ensure a safe and seamless travel experience for the annual Amarnath Yatra 2026.

During the inspection, the divisional commissioner evaluated several dedicated passenger areas, including newly set up eKYC counters, the Yatra Facilitation Centre, and passenger reception hubs.

Senior officials representing the civil administration, Airport Authority, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Industrial Security Force briefed the divisional commissioner on inter-agency coordination measures designed to streamline the movement of arriving pilgrims.

To better accommodate the influx of visitors, the local administration has significantly expanded its registration and facilitation infrastructure across Kashmir this year. The total number of pilgrim facilitation counters has been scaled up from 54 in 2025 to 131 for the 2026 season.

This expansion features an increase in e-KYC counters from 21 to 59, radio-frequency identification counters from 20 to 32, and on-spot registration desks from 13 to 40. These upgraded services have been strategically placed at major travel nodes, including Pantha Chowk, Srinagar International Airport, and the Nowgam Railway Station.

Deputy Commissioner Budgam Athar Aamir and the Senior Superintendent of Police Budgam accompanied the divisional commissioner during the airport inspection.
