Srinagar Police conduct mock drill to ensure security for Shri Amarnath ji Yatra

SRINAGAR, June 28, 2026 :- The Srinagar police, in coordination with multiple security and civil administration agencies, conducted a large-scale mock drill at strategic locations along the pilgrimage route in the Parimpora and Maloora areas to assess emergency preparedness for the upcoming Shri Amarnath ji Yatra.

The comprehensive exercise aimed to evaluate operational readiness, inter-agency coordination, and real-time communication mechanisms in the event of critical incidents.

The joint drill tested response procedures and protocols among the Jammu and Kashmir police, Central Armed Police Forces, Fire and Emergency Services, medical teams, State Disaster Response Force, traffic department, and civil administration.Prior to the exercise, participating departments were thoroughly briefed on standard operating procedures, with an emphasis on monitoring response times and rescue operations.

As part of the contingency planning for the annual pilgrimage, arrangements for food, shelter, and medical assistance have already been streamlined through the joint efforts of the food and civil supplies, revenue, and health departments under the unified command of the Joint Police Control Room.

The drill simulated various emergency scenarios, including vehicle-borne explosive devices, stand-off fire, road accidents, and law and order issues, followed by detailed debriefing sessions to identify operational gaps and refine the emergency response plan.
