Anantnag police conduct simulated sniper attack drill ahead of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra

ANANTNAG June 28,2026 — Police in Anantnag conducted a comprehensive mock drill based on a simulated sniper attack scenario at Langabal, Pahalgam, to assess and enhance the operational readiness of security forces ahead of the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

The tactical exercise was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response protocols, inter-agency coordination, and decision-making during a hostile attack. Upon activation of the simulated threat, security personnel swiftly secured the area, neutralized the threat through coordinated tactical measures, facilitated the safe evacuation of civilians, managed simulated casualties, and carried out area domination and search operations in accordance with established standard operating procedures.

The drill witnessed active participation from the Police, Central Reserve Police Force, Health Department, Fire and Emergency Services, and State Disaster Response Force, demonstrating a high level of preparedness and collaboration among all responding teams.

Security officials emphasized that the police department remains steadfast in its commitment to providing a secure and peaceful environment for pilgrims and the general public during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

They added that such realistic training exercises are conducted regularly to reinforce field preparedness and ensure a swift, coordinated, and effective response to any security contingency.
