IAAS Trainees from NAAA Shimla Embark on Study Tour to Himachal’s Forward Border Areas
SHIMLA: June 26, 2026 :- A group of 15 officer trainees of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IAAS) from the National Academy of Account and Audit (NAAA), Shimla, are currently on an insightful educational and familiarization tour to the forward border areas of Himachal Pradesh. Running from June 22 to June 27, 2026, the week-long visit has provided the future administrators with a rare, firsthand glimpse into the grueling realities of military soldiering in some of the most unforgiving, high-altitude terrains of the Himalayas, where basic survival poses a daily challenge. By witnessing the operations and lifestyle of the Indian Army personnel in these remote sectors, the trainees expressed a profound appreciation for the sheer determination and professionalism required to make such extraordinary border security duties look entirely routine.
Beyond experiencing strategic military operations, the officer trainees actively engaged in community outreach initiatives by visiting remote border settlements, including Giu and Hurling villages. The civil-military interaction allowed the trainees to closely converse with the locals and understand the unique socioeconomic dynamics of border communities. In a heartening gesture sponsored entirely by themselves, the NAAA trainees distributed essential stationery items and refreshments to local school children in both Giu and Hurling, fostering meaningful relationships and goodwill. The day’s events drawing to a close, the delegation concluded their field tour with a cultural and spiritual visit to the historic, centuries-old Tabo Monastery in the Spiti Valley, anchoring their administrative learning in the rich heritage of the region.
