Assam Rifles Secures Fifth Place at All India Police Badminton Championship
SHILLONG, May 14, 2026 — Assam Rifles demonstrated exceptional athletic prowess at the 2nd All India Police Badminton Championship, finishing fifth overall out of 43 competing teams.
The contingent earned a total of ten medals, including one gold, three silver, and six bronze. Among the senior officers, P Chakma earned a bronze in the men’s singles 50+ category and a silver in the team event, while Aman Nanda and AM Metei secured silver in the men’s doubles 35+ category.
Additionally, Manmohan and Nirmal clinched a bronze in the mixed doubles open category.The success continued in the other ranks category, where Hariom Dulait, Vinay AP, and Awdhesh Jat won silver in the men’s team event. Hariom and Vilinda secured the team’s sole gold medal in the mixed doubles open.
Bronze medals were awarded to Vinay AP and Diana in mixed doubles open, Henry and LT Puia in men’s doubles 35+, and a women’s team consisting of Diana, Vilinda, Angita, and Imchen. Individual bronze medals were also won by Angita in women’s singles and the duo of Diana and Vilinda in women’s doubles.
