Captain Kulvinder Singh Bali Takes Command of INS Dronacharya
KOCHI, May 14, 2026 — Captain Kulvinder Singh Bali took over as the Commanding Officer of INS Dronacharya, the premier Gunnery and Missile training establishment of the Indian Navy, during a ceremony held at Fort Kochi on Thursday.
He succeeds Commodore Manav Sehgal, VSM. Before moving to this prestigious training facility, Captain Bali served as the Commanding Officer of INS Gomantak, the base depot ship situated in the Goa Naval Area.
The new Commanding Officer is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and follows in his family’s footsteps as a second-generation Gunnery specialist. Commissioned into the Indian Navy on January 1, 2004, Captain Bali has pursued extensive professional education at the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington and the Army War College in Mhow.
His seasoned career includes previous commands of the Indian Navy ships Kora and Ajay, as well as the fast attack craft XFAC 83.
