Chief Justice of India Surya Kant Announces High Powered Committee for Nationwide Court Modernization
NEW DELHI, MAY 12, 2026 :- Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has officially announced the formation of a high-powered committee dedicated to modernizing court infrastructure across India.
The committee, which will be led by Supreme Court Justice Aravind Kumar, is responsible for developing a comprehensive blueprint to upgrade judicial facilities nationwide.
A primary goal of this initiative is to secure a substantial government allocation ranging from 40,000 to 50,000 crore rupees to fund the digital and physical transformation of the legal system.
The task force has been given a clear timeline to complete its initial phase, with a deadline to submit detailed findings and specific funding requirements by August 31 of this year.
These recommendations will be presented to Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, to facilitate the necessary budgetary support.
This move signals a significant push toward enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of the Indian judiciary through large-scale investment and strategic planning.
