Assam Rifles rescues abducted woman and 15 civilians in Kamjong operation
KAMJONG, May 10, 2026:- Assam Rifles, in a successful coordinated effort with intelligence agencies and local stakeholders, secured the safe release of Olina Ningshen, a Tangkhul woman who had been abducted by KNA(B) and VVEZ from Namlee.
The rescue took place on May 9, 2026, near Z Choro along the Indo-Myanmar border. Following her recovery, security forces provided her with essential medical assistance and psychological support before ensuring her safe reunification with her family.
The operation extended beyond the initial rescue, as Assam Rifles personnel also evacuated 15 civilians, including women and children, from violence-hit areas in the region. These individuals were provided with immediate humanitarian aid to ensure their well-being.
During follow-up security maneuvers, the forces apprehended one armed KNA(B) cadre and seized a cache of weapons and ammunition, further neutralizing threats in the vicinity.This successful mission underscores the ongoing commitment of Assam Rifles to maintaining peace and stability in the North East.
The force continues to conduct intensive domination and security operations across sensitive zones in Kamjong to protect civilians and deter insurgent activities.
