Jammu-Srinagar NH44 Blocked: Massive Landslide Suspends Traffic Near Karol Bridge
Ramban March 26, 2026 — Commuters are advised to exercise extreme caution as traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has been completely suspended in both directions due to a major natural obstruction.
A massive landslide accompanied by heavy boulders has blocked both tubes of the highway between Karol Bridge and Chanderkot, effectively cutting off the vital link between Jammu and Srinagar.
Authorities have issued a strict advisory urging the public to avoid traveling on NH-44 until the debris is cleared and the road is officially declared safe for restoration.
To ensure public safety and prevent congestion, travelers are requested not to rely on unverified rumors and instead monitor real-time updates via the J&K Traffic Police official Twitter handle (@Traffic_hqrs) or their Facebook page.
For direct inquiries, the Traffic Control Units (TCUs) remain operational: TCU Jammu can be reached at 0191-2459048 or 103, TCU Srinagar at 0194-2450022, and TCU Ramban at 9419993745.
