UDHAMPUR, February 10, 2026 — In a significant crackdown on narcotics smuggling, the Udhampur Police apprehended two notorious drug peddlers and recovered a quantity of heroin during a routine patrol near Subash Stadium.
The operation was carried out by a team from Police Station Udhampur, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), as part of ongoing efforts to curb the drug menace in the region.
According to police reports, the team noticed two individuals acting suspiciously while approaching from the Bharat Nagar Cut on National Highway 44 (NH-44) toward TCP Domail. Upon spotting the police vehicle, the suspects attempted to flee by quickly changing direction.
However, the alert police party intercepted and apprehended both individuals before they could escape.The suspects have been identified as Shamsher Singh, son of Shubdev Singh and resident of Samba, and Aditya Kumar, son of Vijay Kumar and resident of Akhnoor, Jammu.
During a subsequent personal search, officers recovered 4.41 grams of heroin from Singh and 1.57 grams from Kumar. Following the recovery, a case has been registered under FIR No. 43/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Udhampur.
A thorough investigation is currently underway to trace the origin and intended destination of the seized contraband.
