Over 11,000 Pilgrims Visit Amarnath Cave on Day 2 of Annual Yatra

SRINAGAR, July 04, 2026 — On the second day of the annual Amarnath Yatra, a total of 11,399 pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine in the South Kashmir Himalayas. The pilgrimage commenced amidst stringent security arrangements from the twin base camps of Baltal and Nunwan (Pahalgam).

According to officials, the yatra flagged off early in the morning from both the traditional 48-kilometer Nunwan-Pahalgam route and the shorter 14-kilometer Baltal track. Chanting “Bam Bam Bhole,” the enthusiastic batches of devotees—including men, women, and sadhus—began their arduous trek toward the 3,880-meter-high holy cave shrine immediately after receiving the green signal from authorities at the base camps.

In light of the ongoing pilgrimage, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has issued a strict advisory urging devotees to undertake the yatra only after completing their advance registration. Pilgrims have been strongly advised to strictly adhere to their designated travel dates. The administration emphasized that, in compliance with Supreme Court directives, a daily ceiling on the number of pilgrims allowed on the tracks has been enforced to ensure maximum security and the smooth conduct of the annual event. Officials added that advance registration facilities had been made available well in advance through select bank branches and online platforms nationwide, with the majority of Yatris having already secured their slots.
