Manoj Sinha reviews Shri Amarnath Yatra management and urges unregistered pilgrims to defer travel

SRINAGAR, July 4, 2026 — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the overall management and ground situation of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026. The meeting focused on pilgrim movement, traffic management, security arrangements, accommodation, and registration status to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage.

Attendees included Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat, Special DG Coordination PHQ S.J.M. Gillani, Home Department Principal Secretary Chandraker Bharti, Intelligence Bureau Joint Director Pankaj Thakur, and Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor and CEO of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board Mandeep K Bhandari, alongside senior officers from the civil administration, police, and security forces.

During the meeting, officials noted that an unusually large number of pilgrims have been arriving without valid registration, leading to extended waiting times. Manoj Sinha emphasized that the pilgrimage strictly adheres to a prescribed ceiling on track movement in compliance with Supreme Court orders, making the registration schedule imperative for safety and convenience.

It was reiterated that only pilgrims with valid registration for their designated dates will be allowed on the tracks leading to the Holy Cave Shrine.Manoj Sinha appealed to intending unregistered pilgrims to defer their travel for the next few days to avoid inconvenience upon reaching Jammu Kashmir.

The administration has advised all prospective pilgrims to complete the mandatory registration process and secure a valid permit for their allotted date before starting their journey, clarifying that those without confirmed registration will not be permitted to proceed.

Furthermore, the security and logistical arrangements were reviewed, with directives issued to all departments and security agencies to maintain close coordination with stakeholders, including Langar organizations, service providers, and NGOs.
