Udhampur, February 10, 2026 — In a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on narcotics, the Udhampur Police successfully intercepted and arrested two inter-district drug peddlers at a checkpoint in Tikri today.
A police team from Police Post Tikri, while conducting routine vehicle inspections, halted a Srinagar-bound Innova taxi (Registration No. DL2CAZ 1209) arriving from Jammu. Upon searching the occupants, identified as Danish Butt and Jawaz Ahmed Wani, both residents of Doda, officers recovered 21.40 grams of heroin.
The duo was unable to provide a legal justification for the contraband and was immediately taken into custody. Following the recovery, a case has been registered under FIR No. 32/2026 at Police Station Rehambal under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
This operation brings the total number of drug peddlers arrested by the Udhampur Police this year to 31, further strengthening the department’s resolve to achieve a drug-free district.
