BANIHAL, Feb 09 (2026): In a significant move to enhance regional connectivity and ease the journey for thousands of commuters, Northern Railway authorities have officially announced the extension of local train services from Banihal to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, effective from Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
This vital expansion is set to transform travel for pilgrims and tourists alike, offering a seamless rail link that now includes the convenience of one reserved coach. According to the schedule released by the Jammu Railway Division, the train will depart Banihal at 10:10 AM, reaching Katra by 1:00 PM, while the return service will leave Katra at 2:45 PM to arrive back in Banihal at 5:30 PM before proceeding toward Budgam.
To ensure the benefits of this service reach local communities, the train will stop at all intermediate stations, providing essential transport links for residents in Khari, Sumber, Sangaldan, Sawalkote, Bakal, Dugga, Kouri, and Reasi.
